30 November,
2009: High class galloper Barlinnie toyed with his rivals at the Sunshine
Coast today to score an impressive first up win.
Carrying the
hefty impost of 61.5kg, Barlinnie crushed his rivals by running away for a
two and half length win over the 1300m journey.
Barlinnie will now tackle the $200,000 Listed Lough Neagh Stks (1350m) at
Doomben on Saturday 19 December.
He will then be aimed at the third leg of the Summer Triple Crown in the
$200,000 Listed Bernborough Hcp (1600m) on Saturday 26 December, also at
Doomben.
A lightly raced six year-old, Barlinnie won the same race last year at just
his second start for Trevor Bailey after being secured by Ontrack
Thoroughbreds.
Barlinnie’s
victory was capped off by the win of stablemate Chubby who brought up a
winning double for the stable.
