June, 2008:
Former Melbourne galloper Dardan continued his outstanding form on the Gold
Coast by blitzing a Class 1 field at the Gold Coast today.
Formerly prepared by Lee Freedman, Dardan was sent north by owner John
Anderson after being winless from three starts in Victoria.
Freedman purchased Dardan
at the 2006 Magic Millions yearling sale for $160,000.
Since arriving in Queensland with Trevor Bailey, Dardan has won 2 of his 5
starts with the promise of more to come for the Street Cry three year-old.
Today's victory featured a widening 5.8 length winning margin providing
in-form hoop Terry Treichel with a soft victory.
Dardan is out of the Mighty Avalanche mare Belle Banne, a winner of 5 races
in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane for trainer Kevin Newman.
Street Cry is a Dubai World Cup winning son of Machiavellian who stands at
Darley Stud.
With his oldest Australian progeny now three, Street Cry is carving out a
good record in both hemispheres with his progeny including Kentucky Derby
winner Street Sense.
In Australasia Street Cry has produced 24 individual winners from 58
starters.
His principal performers in the South have been stakeswinner Sarthemare, and
stakesplacegetters Aceland Street, Allanthus, Gazza Guru and Teary Eyed.
