2008:
Talented
five year-old mare Fabiarna claimed an important maiden stakes win at
Eagle Farm last Saturday in the $100,000 Listed Juanmo Quality (1200m).
Trained by
Trevor Bailey, Fabiarna extended her record to 3 wins from 8 starts
since joining the stable last year from Gerald Ryan.
Fabiarna has
been in work since July adding significant merit to her consistent record
which culminated in a dominant stakes win.
In form
apprentice Mandy Radecker also celebrated her first black type win
aboard Fabiarna. Radecker has partnered Fabiarna in all three wins for the
stable.
Fabiarna was
purchased by Grant
Morgan for
Gold Coast
Racing last year as a tried horse from former owner Les Cowell.
“We
purchased her with the aim of winning a stakes race before eventually
re-selling her as a broodmare prospect,” said Grant Morgan.
“She is a
lovely type of mare; she will make a terrific broodmare.”
Fabiarna is
by Gold Edition and Lovely Jubbly’s sire Lion Hunter, who now shapes
as a highly promising young broodmare sire.
Whilst no
stranger to big race success, Fabiarna’s victory also marked trainer Trevor
Bailey’s first official stakes win in Australia.
Trevor
Bailey enjoyed success at international level when training in Singapore,
headed by a win in the prestigious Group 2 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Before
heading to Singapore, Trevor Bailey led the stables Caulfield operation as
assistant trainer to father Alan Bailey.
The
Victorian stable enjoyed significant success over a two year period
producing 5 individual stakeswinners in Melbourne and Adelaide.
