8 April, 2010:
Many of you
received an email from me during the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale asking for
interest in a Tale of The Cat colt from former top racemare Gee I Jane.
After getting together a group of clients to purchase the colt together with
Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan, our estimates of a $400,000 price tag were
somewhat eclipsed.
The good looking colt eventually fetched $800,000, blowing our group out of
the water at $450,000.
The under bidders on the colt were the Ingham family with Chris Waller.
The colt was bred in partnership by Gordon Calder, a Cambridge based breeder
in New Zealand who also represents breeding giant Coolmore in the shaky
isles.
The windfall for Calder was justice given the misfortune of loosing Gee I
Jane last breeding season.
