Sunday January 1, 2012:
Green Supreme, one of New Zealand’s most promising young stayers, has made
it three wins on end today at Ellerslie confirming the form of recent tried
horse purchase Mr Pedantic.
Mr Pedantic has been purchased by Australian interests to race under trainer
Trevor Bailey from his newly established stables at Newcastle.
The Mr Pedantic purchase deal was brokered by Grant Morgan of Ontrack
Thoroughbreds.
Ridden today by James Macdonald, Green Supreme recorded an impressive
victory in the
$75,000 Dunstan Feeds Championship (2200m) at Ellerslie.
Group 1 placed as a three year-old, Green Supreme has now won 4 times
including his last 3 starts on end for Matamata trainer Graeme Richardson.
Today’s victory provides Green Supreme ballot free entry into the Group 1
Auckland Cup at Ellerslie on March 7, 2012.
Green Supreme narrowly defeated Mr Pedantic three runs back at Ellerslie (26
November) with the margins a neck by a nose.
“Mr Pedantic didn’t have much luck against Green Supreme at his last start
and probably should have won,” said Ontrack Thoroughbreds Managing Director
Grant Morgan.
“The subsequent form from Green Supreme confirms that Mr Pedantic is a very
exciting prospect for our clients in Australia in a market which is craving
promising young staying types.”
Meanwhile on the same feature race card at Ellerslie today, Mr Pedantic’s
close relation Atomic Force notched his second career Group 1 victory in the
Railway Stakes (1200m).
Mr Pedantic’s dam Countess Zoya (by Flying Spur) is a daughter of Show of
Force, the dam of Atomic Force.
