August, 2008:
The Ontrack Thoroughbreds Hunter Valley Horse and Wine Tour concluded today
with the 50 person strong tour party enjoying a particularly memorable tour.
"A once in a lifetime experience," was the description of the tour by
Brisbane businessman Greg Conlon.
The tour was co-hosted by Sky Channel's Alan Thomas and Women In
Racing's Jennie Bartels.
The eclectic group drew members from five different states and territories,
with points of origin ranging from Adelaide, Canberra, Bundaberg and even
Lightning Ridge.
Also among the group was ex Queensland Racing Minister Bob Gibbs.
One of the highlights of the tour for many was the visit to Arrowfield Stud,
hosted by John and Christine Messara.

John Messara was
a particularly gracious host, personally commentating on each
stallion, the farm and the development of a new training centre at
Arrowfield, headed by his son Paul Messara.
The group also visited Coolmore Stud, Vinery Stud, Darley Stud (Denman) and
Patinack Farm.
Another highlight of the journey was an intimate closing night dinner at
John Johnstone's Saddlers Creek Wines. During the final night, well
known Brisbane publican Michael White paid tribute to his close
friend Bob Argent who sadly passed away recently.
A highly successful owner of a host of high quality galloper include St Jude
and Chortle, Bob showed characteristic fighting qualities in a bid to
join his mates on the tour before succumbing to illness.
The next Ontrack Thoroughbreds tour will be staged in New Zealand later this
year, details will be available on the website later this month.
