Ontrack Thoroughbreds
and Gold Coast trainer Trevor Bailey have secured the top priced lot at the
2011 Magic Millions QTIS 600 yearling sale.
The colt is by outstanding young Glenlogan Park sire Jet Spur and is the
second foal of promising young Luskin Star mare Hialeah Star.
The colt was knocked down to Ontrack Thoroughbreds for $120,000 which later
proved to be the highest price paid at the two day QTIS 600 sale.
“Last years top lot was $140,000, so we knew this fellow was going to be up
around that mark,” said Grant Morgan.
“He really has everything you want in a yearling. He is by a young sire
going places, and is out of a young successful racemare who won 3 races as a
two year-old.
“It’s great to buy these good looking colts out of very good racemares who
are just starting their careers in the breeding barn.
“From a pedigree angle, the Danehill x Star Kingdom cross has been so
successful and we don’t get too many opportunities to buy from it anymore.
“But most importantly, he has the physical attributes you want in a horse to
try and take advantage of the rich prizemoney on offer through the QTIS 600
race series.
Hialeah Star was a brilliant racemare winning 8 races including 3 races as a
two year-old.
Her first foal is two year-old colt by Anabaa who was purchased at last
years QTIS 600 yearling sale for $80,000.
Now racing as Florida Fellow, the Bryan Guy prepared colt was a narrow
second last Saturday at Doomben behind the very smart Show A Prince.
“Trevor and I took a close look at Florida Fellow last Saturday. His run was
outstanding and our colt is a very similar type with plenty of size and
athleticism,” said Morgan.
A partnership of existing clients of the Trevor Bailey stable will race this
colt, with limited shares available.
“We asked for expressions of interest prior to the sale and we had a great
response from many existing clients from throughout Australia.
The colt will also be managed by Ontrack Thoroughbreds and carry the All
Gold colours which have been carried by high quality horses including last
Saturdays stakes placed Faster Son.
“We will take a share in the colt as well and we look forward to getting him
to the races next season," said Morgan.
