Saturday 4 February, 2012:
Ontrack Thoroughbreds has secured a lovely New Zealand bred yearling
filly by top young sire High Chaparral from the New Zealand Bloodstock
Premier Sale at Karaka.
Lot 34 was purchased for $120,000 NZ from the
Windsor Park Stud draft and she will be syndicated to the stable of leading
Queensland trainer Robert Heathcote.
She is the first foal winning Golan mare Absinthe, who was raced and
retained by Windsor Park Stud.
This is the immediate family of smart New Zealand middle distance performer
Mr Tipsy, a multiple stakes winner with earnings approaching $500,0000.
Since the catalogue was printed, the pedigree has also been enhanced by a
recent Group 1 victory through Mr Tipsy's half brother Distill.
"This is a very good current pedigree which is on the move. This filly is
bred on the same cross as Mr Tipsy as they share Sadler's Wells as their
grand sire," said Ontrack Thoroughbreds Grant Morgan.
"Before the sale the expectations on this filly were that she would make
around $200k NZ."
"The sale was fairly soft in the early stages of day one and it proved to be
the best buying."
"Since the sale I've
already had an enquiry from someone who was at the sale to buy her. They
regretted not going higher on her and on reflection felt she was great
value."
This filly is from the final New Zealand crop of High Chaparral who formerly
stood at Windsor Park Stud.
High Chaparral now stands at Coolmore Stud at Jerry's Plains with his most
recent fee for 2011 standing at $99,000 AUD.
Rated as one of the best young sires in Australasia, High Chaparral is the
sire of So You Think, Shoot Out and Descarado.
