5 April, 2010:
Nightofthegeneral, a
half brother to an unraced Ontrack Thoroughbreds two year-old, has added
black type to his family during the Autumn carnival.
Originally prepared by Gai Waterhouse, Nightofthegeneral was raced by the
Daily Telegraph Punters Club.
He carried the Punters Club colours on just two occasions, winning on debut
at Kensington by 4 lengths before being narrowly defeated at Rosehill.
After a long stint on the sideline, Nightofthegeneral was put into the tried
horse sales ring and sold to new connections.
Now prepared at Warwick Farm by Ross Simpson, Nightofthegeneral has strung
together 4 impressive efforts this campaign.
After winning first up at Kensington, Nightofthegeneral was a gallant second
behind boom horse Griffon at Canterbury.
He was then thrown into the deep end in the $100,000 Listed M Mcarten Stakes
(1100m) at Rosehill, where he was runner up to the smart Welkom Gold.
At his most recent
outing on Easter Monday, Nightofthegeneral easily accounted for his 8 rivals
at Canterbury lumping 59.5kg to score an impressive win over 1100m. |
