Looking North For Winter Carnival
Monday 23 March, 2009: In form Caulfield trainer Mick
Price is eyeing the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival with a big team of
gallopers.
Now training a large string of horses for Nathan Tinkler, Price is likely to
base his Winter team at the Patinack Farm Gold Coast stables.
Heading the team of up to 20 horses will be multiple Group 1 winner Pompeii
Ruler.
Likely targets for Pompeii Ruler include the $300,000 Hollindale Stakes
(1800m) at the Gold Coast on 2 May, followed by the $500,000 Gr 1 Doomben
Cup (2020m) at Doomben on 16 May.
Price nabbed three Group 1 winners over the weekend, including Show A
Heart’s three year-old son Heart of Dreams in the Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) at
Rosehill.
Show A Heart progeny are always high on the shopping list for Price who has
enjoyed remarkable success with the Glenlogan Park Stud sire.
Price also puts the polish on the smart Show A Heart duo Rightfully Yours
and Gotta Have Heart. |
