Sunday January 1, 2012:
Lightly raced New Zealand four year-old Mr Pedantic has been purchased by
Ontrack Thoroughbreds and will continue his racing career in Australia under
Trevor Bailey.
Mr Pedantic will arrive in Australia later this month, and is likely to head
straight to Trevor Baileys Newcastle stable.
The son of Storming Home
has won on debut at Paeroa, and has since placed in another four races
including his last three at Ellerslie.
His most recent effort was a luckless third behind the very smart Green
Supreme when tightened for room near the line when beaten a neck by a nose.
“We studied Mr Pedantic’s videos very closely and we were impressed at the
turn of foot he shows,"
said Ontrack Thoroughbreds Managing Director Grant Morgan.
"Mr Pedantic had no luck last start and should of beaten Green Supreme who
is one of New Zealand's most promising young stayers."
Green Supreme has won his last three starts with most recent win coming today
in the $75,000 Dunstan Feeds Championship Final (2200m) at
Ellerslie when ridden by James McDonald.
“There is plenty of scope for Mr Pedantic to improve sharply and we are
confident he will go through his grades in Australia.
The purchase was made on behalf of a group of established clients
headed by long time owner Keith Ferrel.
“Keith has been a fabulous supporter and has had plenty of luck with tried horses
like Fabiarna and Barlinnie who were both prepared by Trevor Bailey".
“He has been keen to get a nice middle distance staying type from his come
country of New Zealand for some time and he likes this horse very much."
