Amigo Scores Soft Ipswich Win
Wednesday 27 May,
2009: Improving three year-old Red Amigo continued his impressive Queensland
record by scoring a dominant wet track win at Ipswich today.
Racing on a slow track for the first time, Red Amigo was sent straight to
the front by Terry Treichel over the 1700m course, and was never headed.
The Show A Heart gelding has now had three starts in Queensland for two wins
and one third.
“He has earned a break now
and we will bring him back after the carnival and step up to Metropolitan
class,” said trainer Trevor Bailey.
“He dipped at the crossing, dipped at the 1200m, dipped at the 800m, dipped
at the turn, said jockey Terry Treichel.
“He wasn’t that happy in he ground, but I nursed him through it.”
Red Amigo was previously prepared by Chris Waller at Rosehill
before being sent North to Trevor Bailey.
