20 June, 2011: Ontrack Thoroughbreds and Zeppelin Travel have commenced
planning for a 2012 Royal Ascot tour following a recent fact finding visit
to London.
I was joined on the trip by Zeppelin Travel principal Andi Von Zeppelin at
the first two days of Royal Ascot.
Day 1 featured the running of the prestigious Kings Stand stakes where
Aussie sprinter Star Witness was a gallant second. This is the race Aussie’s
have made their own in recent years with Choisir, Takeover Target, Miss
Andretti and Scenic Blast all victorious down the famous Ascot straight.
In what was a magnificent days racing, we also witnessed star Galileo colt
Frankel win the Group 1 St James Palace stakes and top milers Canford Cliffs
and Goldikova fight out the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes.
On day two Sheikh Mohammed’s Rewilding upset So You Think to collect the
prestigious Group 1 Prince of Wales Stakes with Frankie Dettori aboard.
Throughout the two days we visited the several hospitality areas available
to visitors at Royal Ascot and we feel we have selected the best options for
our guests next year.
During the visit, we also completed a large number of London hotel
inspections in preparation for our inaugural Royal Ascot tour in 2012.
Included among these was a visit to the Goring Hotel, where we afforded a
private inspection of the suite used by Kate Middleton prior to the Royal
Wedding.
Morning tea at the world famous ‘Ritz’ was fabulous as was our visit to the
time honoured Savoy Hotel.
One of the other highlights for me was our Dubai – London flight leg aboard
a brand new A380. So much room and comfort. A great way to fly long haul.
I’m very excited about hosting our Royal Ascot tour in June 2012 and look
forward to releasing further details of the tour shortly.
