This cracking filly is by
the Group 1 winning sprinter, Magnus and was selected by Ontrack
Thoroughbreds out of the recent ready to run sale held by Magic Millions at
the Gold Coast by Grant Morgan.
Along with those two white socks on her hind legs, she owns a white star,
stripe and snip on her head and is blessed with good scope. It's easy to see
why Morgan selected this filly, carrying a track-work rider on the synthetic
surface at the Gold Coast track, she recorded 10.84seconds over 200metres. A
good time for a sprint-up at this early stage of her juvenile year, and,
quick enough to show her engine.

The only thoroughbred by Magnus offered at the sale, the son of Flying
Spur has given his standing stud Eliza Park plenty to write about since his
retirement to stud duties in 2008. In October, Magnus had first runner
Imprimis (ex Tendency by Rory's Jester), a filly, in the Listed Maribyrnong
Trial at Flemington over 1000m. Imprimis, tired the last bit of the race to
get beaten by half-a-length in the black type event. Trained at the course
Imprimis led for most of the journey, to be grabbed just shy of the post by
Cambiaso, a colt, to be denied victory.
To date, Magnus has had just three runners, and another has managed to
pick-up black type during the Flemington Melbourne Cup Carnival, while the
third, Magnusificent has put in a couple of bold performances to collect
more than $5,000 thus far.
After, Imprimis got the ball rolling with her thrilling runner-ups
placing, a race in which Magnusificent (ex Discretionary by Hurricane Sky)
ran on solidly. Magnusificent then finished just off the pace behind Real
Stolle in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate on the final day of the Melbourne
Cup carnival. While, the other in the event Magnus Reign (ex Vain Hill by
Danehill) who led for most of the journey before racing greenly over the
concluding stages, collected third prizemoney, thus taking Magnus' earnings
past $43,800 and a 67% stakes horses to runners for the freshman sire.
Magnus, was built for speed and during his career on the track the bay
won The Galaxy, a Group 1 event. A son of Flying Spur, he also possessed a
tough as teak constitution campaigning on three continents during that
career. Magnus, has a great pedigree, too being a half-brother to the dam of
world champion, Black Caviar.
Ontrack Thoroughbreds principal Grant Morgan was extremely impressed with
the way she presented at the sale and in her work saying "I was taken with
her, she has a nice relaxed walk, well balanced, and I liked the way she was
able to breeze up without being pushed."
"She's going to Victoria to take advantage of the Super VOBIS scheme and
if she happens to win a couple of races she has plenty of residual with her
pedigree. Encosta de Lago is shaping up as a nice broodmare sire, and, the
female family is one of the hottest in the land, and, will continue to be
hot in the decades to come," Morgan concluded.
