December, 2009: The Ontrack Thoroughbreds NZ Horse and Wine Tour concluded
day, with 27 tour guests enjoying a memorable tour.
The group visited leading farms Cambridge Stud, Windsor Park Stud, Waikato
Stud, Rich Hill Stud, The Oaks Stud and Westbury Stud.
One of the highlights of the tour for most was an informative talk with Sir
Patrick Hogan and a photo with champion stallion Zabeel.
Co-hosted by Sky Channel’s Alan Thomas and Women In Racings Jennie Bartels,
the group also took in racing action at Ellerslie from the Chairman’s Club.
A new addition to the tour this year was a day trip to the picturesque
Waiheke Island, with lunch and wine tasting at the beautiful Mudbrick
Vineyard.
The group came from near and far for the tour with guests originating from a
range of locations including Canberra, Lightning Ridge, Charters Towers,
Hervey Bay, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney.
