Which Gold Coast trainer has the best win strike rate ?

Friday 15 August, 2008:
The answer might surprise. If you answered Alan Bailey, Bryan Guy or even Gillian Heinrich, you would be wrong.

The Gold Coast trainer with the best win strike rate in the 2007/2008 Brisbane Trainers Premiership was Trevor Bailey.

Trevor Bailey recorded a win strike rate of 5.8, which simply mean that Trevor led in a winner every 5.8 starters.

As an owner, the win strike rate is vital. In the
se days of increasing training costs, it’s crucial that horses don’t stay out of the winners circle for too long.

The win strike rate figure is also an important snapshot of the trainers ability to place horses. Running where you are capable of winning means owners are getting a better return on investment, rather than just making up the numbers.

Last season Trevor Bailey prepared 9 city winners from just 53 starters, with 30 horses in work. Among those winners were two stakeswinners in rejuvenated mares Fabiarna and Perfect Feeling, who both no head to the breeding barn with vital black type.

Whilst Trevor’s
strike rate figures were the best of any Gold Coast trainer, he also narrowly missed claiming statewide strike rate honours.

Premiership winning Eagle Farm trainer Barry Baldwin piped
Trevor Bailey at the post with a win strike rate of 5.7.

At home on the Gold Coast, Trevor Bailey prepared a
highly creditable 18 winners for the season finishing a close fourth behind father Alan Bailey who claimed yet another home title.
