Artie Schiller (USA) (by El Prado by Sadler's
Well's) is arguably one of the most promising young sires in the world
today.
In Australia Artie Schiller's oldest progeny are now three year-olds. His
Australian stakes winners are headed by Laser Hawk (Gr 1 Rosehill Guineas),
and supported by Big Chill (LR SAJC Breeders Stks at 2), Secret Liaison (LR
MRC Twilight Glow Stks) and Moving Money (LR Tasmanian Guineas). More
recently he has produced exciting Melbourne three year-old Lady Melksham
(unbeaten in her first 3 starts). With two crops of racing age in Australia
Artie Schiller has produced 4 stakes winners, 1 stakes placegetter and 27
individual winners from just 51 starters (52.9% winners to runners).
All
this has been achieved off low mare numbers and moderate quality. With the
runs now on the board, highly regarded breeding identity Trevor Lobb from
leading farm Emirates Park Stud stepped in to purchase a 50% interest in
Artie Schiller. Trevor Lobb was the driving forced behind the Woodlands Stud
empire and then the establishment of Darley Australia. Lobb knows his stuff
and the Artie Schiller purchase demonstrates the upside of this quality
stallion in Australia.
Artie Schiller statistics in the USA are equally impressive. Based in
Kentucky at Winstar Farm, Artie Schiller has demonstrated his ability to
produce a fast miler similar to himself. His keynote performer in the US has
been Mr Commons (Gr 2 Santa Anita Beaufort Stks, Gr 2 Santa Anita Arcadia
Stks & 2nd Gr 1 Santa Anita Frank E Kilroe Mile). Supporting him have been
other stakes performers Anne's Beauty (Gr 3 Woodbine Ontario Colleen S),
Blingo (LR Santa Anita La Puente S), Irish Art (LR Santa Anita Uniformity S)
and Bears Chill (LR Woodbine Queenston S).
Half Brother to FLYING MINSTREL
This colt is out of the fast Royal Troubador mare Ode To Thee (4 wins to
1200m inc Eagle Farm ). At stud Ode To Thee has produced the highly rated
two year-old Flying Minstrel (unbeaten in 2 starts at 2 inc a 5 len $100k
Doomben win). Like this colt, Ontrack Thoroughbreds purchased Flying
Minstrel from the breeder out of the paddock. Flying Minstrel is currently
on the sideline with a tendon injury but remains an exciting galloper. Like
Flying Minstrel, this colt is a fantastic mover, big overstep and very light
on his feet. Also like Flying Minstrel is his great temperament as a young
horse. Unlike Flying Minstrel, with Artie Schiller's influence, this colt
shapes more as late season two year-old who should have scope to race up to
a mile as a three year-old and possibly beyond.

Robert Heathcote will prepare this colt from his Eagle Farm stables. Already
a dual premiership winning trainer, Heathcote is currently leading the
Brisbane trainers premiership following another phenomenal year in
2011/2012. The stable achieved Group 1 success with Woorim (Gr1 Caulfield
Oakleigh Plate) whilst stablemate Buffering has been runner up at Group 1
level on three occasions after doing battle with the great Black Caviar and
the brilliant Hay List.
